Umar 13 years old, started selling Facemasks at a strategic location, Al-Qalam university, Katsina, few months ago.
As part of Covid 19 measures, the University has made it mandatory for students to wear facemask, before having access into the university.
For Umar, this means more market and more sales.
On average, he and his friends, spend ten hours routinely doing one thing, selling facemask to students.
Students find it convenient to buy facemask from these children than going to malls or markets, according to Aliyu Bello of the department of Islamic studies

Competition is less, They make lots of sales, on a good day, Umar makes 1000 to 2000 Naira daily, hence, new set of young people, are joining the business.
Muhammed Abubakar a 17year old, joined the business two weeks ago, he was tired of staying idle, now he makes on average, 1200 to 1300 Naira on daily basis.
“After finishing secondary school, I became idle, I needed something that I can rely on to take care of myself, so I joined the business of selling Facemasks” said Muhammad Umar.
While some of their friends spent their day begging for what to it, Umar is making money from sales of facemask, now, he takes care himself.
Cliqq Magazine observed young boys have positioned themselves, at strategic location within Katsina, especially, at roundabout, looking for customers to buy facemask.
Muhammadu Sani, aged 16 Years, For more than a year, he has been a regular seller of facemask at the popular Kofar Kaura roundabout in Katsina.
A business, which according to him, started with a borrowed money, he no longer borrows, he owns his business now.
Covid 19 pandemic, has affected businesses in Nigeria, and Katsina in Particular.
While businesses were shutdown, the business of selling Facemasks continues to grow, with young boys who are used to begging for what to eat, are now in a steady business, earning money on daily basis.
With no clear sign on when the pandemic will seize to exist, these Almajiri children will continue to make money from selling of facemask.
