Earlier this evening, Mallam Ismaila Isa Funtua OFR, MNI a close friend to President Muhammadu Buhari and once a Minister in the 2nd Republic was pronounced dead.
He was said to have driven himself to the hospital where he was later said to suffer a cardiac arrest. He only wanted to go for a check up and then barb his hair not knowing he will never make it to the salon.
He was believed to be an influencial figure in the Buhari administration, among Late Abba Kyari and Mamman Daura. With only the latter still alive, what will be the fate of the administration? Would the leaks that have stemmed out keep growing wider? How is the president himself taking this news? What would the effect of the losses that this Presidency has faced this year be on the Nigerian people?
As families are grieving this giant loss, these are the questions that might run in their minds. Tomorrow the Statesman will be lowered to the ground. His story has ended. Someone will continue spearheading his assets and history will be written. But today, they will grieve. A friend. A father. A husband. A grandfather. A mentor. An ally. A philanthropist.
