Covid-19 Lockdown: Katsina Police Seized over 160 Cars, 106 Motorcycles

The Katsina state police command gas impounded 159 cars, 17 tricycles and 106 motorcycles since the beginning of lockdown due to cases of Covid-19 virus.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the PPRO SP Isah Gambo and confirmed by Cliqq Magazine.

SP Isah Gambo said “Following the establishment and inauguration of the special mobile courts, one hundred and fifty five (155) motor vehicle owners, seventeen (17) tricyclists, and one hundred and six (106) motorcyclists were charged to court for violation of the Quarantine and Restriction of movement Regulation, (2020)”.

He added that the violators were sentenced to various fines with or without community services, ranging from N3000 to N10,000. Four motor vehicle owners and thirty-five (35) motorcyclists are still under investigation.

It can be recalled that, Katsina state Government under the leadership of His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Katsina state, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, CFR, issued lockdown orders restricting movements and other social, religious and economic activities in Daura, Dutsinma, Katsina, Mani, Safana, Kankia, Matazu, Musawa, Jibia and Batagarawa while at the same time closing all its borders with states of Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa and Niger Republic, in order to curve the spread of the Covid 19, pandemic in the state.
